Dental Bridges Frequently Asked Questions
What are dental bridges?
Bridges are used to fill in the space of a missing tooth with a natural looking substitute. Bridges can be supported by adjacent teeth, by implants, or by a combination of both.
What are the benefits?
Due to advances in dental implants and dental bridge prosthetics over implants, conventional dental bridges supported by adjacent teeth are not as popular as they once were. However, our Lima cosmetic dentists continue to recommend bridges as a good, lower cost alternative to dental implants, particularly in cases where the adjacent teeth need to be crowned anyway.
What is the procedure?
A dental bridge procedure begins much like a crown procedure: the teeth that will support the bridge must be prepared. At Smiles Peru, digital impressions will be taken using our digital scanner. Our in-house digital lab will then use computerized technology to customize your bridges from the best materials, including Zirconia. Our dentists will place the bridge, making any adjustments as necessary for perfect form and function.
How long do dental bridges last?
Our bridges are designed to last a lifetime. With proper care, the patient can expect many years of trouble-free service from our dental bridges.
What are the costs?
Costs for dental bridges depend upon the number of teeth being replaced and the location. Bridges are a cost effective option because they can last for a very long time. Contact us to set up an appointment for a dental bridge.
What are adhesive bridges?
An adhesive bridge is a dental restoration that spans an area that has no teeth and is connected to natural teeth at each end, preserving form and original aesthetics. An adhesive bridge requires very little alteration of existing teeth; often an old filling can be removed and the space used to anchor the bridge. An adhesive dental bridge is bonded to one or two teeth next to the gap. An adhesive bridge procedure can be completed in one day at our Lima dental clinic.
