Orthodontics methods, such as Invisalign, are used to align the teeth perfectly, giving the patient an ideal smile, which helps facial symmetry and the facial profile of a person. Proper positioning of the teeth also permits better mastication and reduces gum inflammation.  

Orthodontics has two fundamental objectives. The first is to improve the aesthetics of a person’s smile. The second is to improve the bite to achieve ideal positioning of the teeth upon closure. This reduces inflammation of the gums, reduces exposure of teeth roots, helps preserve teeth and reduces the harmful effects of night-grinding, while improving mastication.

When the first objectives of form and function are are met, orthodontics is considered a success. Treatment begins with panoramic and cephalometric x-rays of the patient, where we plot the measurements of the teeth in relation to the base of the skull. These measurements must meet the theoretical ideal values during the treatment.

During the initial visit we will take impressions and send these impressions to Invisalign. Using advanced 3-D computer imaging technology we will transform your bite impressions into a custom-made series of clear and removable aligners. Depending on your treatment plan, you will have from 12 to 48 different aligners. You’ll wear each set of aligners day and night for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. The patient will visit us only about every 6 weeks to ensure that for checkups, however, this is not necessarily required.
