In the past, common removable dentures were the only option available for people with missing teeth. Systems such as the All on Four and All on Six full mouth dental implants are solutions to maximize the use of available bone and provide patients with a strong and stable bite with teeth that do not need to be removed at night or for cleaning.

FULL MOUTH DENTAL IMPLANTS IN PERU
In the upper jawbone, we can place four, six, or eight implants in order to support a fixed bridge consisting of 10 to 12 linked teeth. Whether the treatment will be done with six or eight will depend on the size of the arch needed and the quality and quantity of the bone in the patient’s upper jaw. Where bone is lacking our surgeons can add bone with bone grafts before or during the implant surgery. In the lower jawbone we can place as few as four implants to support a hybrid prosthesis, though more implants are preferred where possible to arrest bone loss.
Smiles Peru uses CAD/CAM software to design a dental implant-supported hybrid prosthesis supported by up to eight dental implants. The hybrid prosthesis is an acrylic fixed dental prosthesis, which uses an internal titanium bar to link the implants, making them mutually supportive and increasing strength and stability. The hybrid prosthesis is lighter than porcelain teeth rehabilitation over implants and is the preferred treatment option in some cases. CAD/CAM design increases the accuracy and ultimate comfort and durability of the prosthesis, while also improving the odds of long-term implant success. Please see our All on 4 / 6 / 8 case studies for examples of Smiles Peru’s successful full mouth dental implants rehabilitation with hybrid prosthesis cases.
FULL MOUTH DENTAL IMPLANTS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are the treatment options for full mouth implants?
Dental Implant-Supported Hybrid Prosthesis: Dental implants that are surgically placed in the bone act as anchors for the overlying denture. This provides support in chewing, speech and overall function. The more implants placed, the less the denture needs to rest on the soft tissues, and the more comfortable the patient. Dentures with implant retention can be fixed in place or removable. Some have titanium frameworks for strength. The more dental implants placed – 6 to 8 on the upper and 2-6 on the lower – the more likely the denture can be screwed into place, rest minimally on the tissues, be reliably stable in function, and provide soft tissue / facial support. Two dental implants can retain a denture; however, it will still sit on the gum tissue. Four dental implants allows the denture to sit above the gums, creating more comfort and stability while functioning.

Porcelain teeth on implants: This option is the most natural and most like real teeth. Implants placed in the jaw bones are spaced apart and connected by titanium frameworks that porcelain teeth are affixed to. They do not rest on the gum tissue; they appear most lifelike, provide facial support and are definitively screwed into place. These porcelain bridges are removable to periodically clean underneath them. They require multiple implants to be placed – 8 on the upper and 6 on the lower – are the most costly, but most life-like dental prosthetic option. These can be completed with digital technology by CEREC.
In this case, we have an All on Six, a fixed bridge of porcelain teeth supported by six implants.
All on 4 implants connected by a titanium framework, supporting a removable lower prosthesis.
Dental Implant-Supported Removable Dentures are a good alternative for patients currently using removable dentures, where the retention of the prosthesis is deficient. Supporting the prosthesis with dental implants improves retention, avoiding involuntary movement during eating or speaking. False gums are used to compensate for bone loss in older adults and recover the patient’s facial profile.
How long do full mouth implants take?
The first phase is the placement of the dental implants. For this phase, the patient should plan on staying one week Peru. Once the implants have ossified with the bone (four months for lower jawbone implants / six months for upper jawbone implants), the patient may return to Peru for the final prosthesis. The patient should plan to stay 10 days to two weeks in Peru for the final phase of the full mouth dental implants process. Smiles Peru’s corporate apartments provide a comfortable setting for our surgical and rehabilitation patients during their stay in Peru.
