Dental Implants

Dental Implants are small titanium cylinders surgically inserted in the bone in order to replace the roots of missing teeth. Extracted teeth cause instability in the jawbone - implants stabilize the jawbone and allow for new teeth. This non-invasive method has the advantage of not damaging adjacent teeth.

Dental implants also have the advantage of preventing further bone loss in the jaw, preserving the shape and symmetry of your face. Bones are like muscles in the sense that if they are not used they decay. For this reason, if you are considering a dental implant we recommend undergoing the procedure without undue delay.

Dental Implant FAQ:

How long does it take to have a dental implant placed?

An implant procedure takes at least three days.  In the first day, we will have your examination and x-rays taken.  On the second day, the surgery takes place.  And on the third day, the provisional prosthesis is placed.

When can I return to work after dental implant surgery?

After two days of rest, the patient can return to work with no problems, and the patient will not need to return to the clinic as the stitches will dissolve.

Do dental implants ever fail?

With new advances in techniques and digital imaging technology, the chances of an implant failing have been reduced to insignificant levels.  However, it is possible in rare cases that a patient may not be a good candidate for the procedure due to bone structure.  In that case we will not do the procedure until the bone structure is built up (through other treatments over a period of months) to receive the implant.
